Your Itinerary:
… Drive
southeast on Highway 2, turn right off
Highway 2 at Road 215 (1km east of Wal-
Mart), left at
Road 206 (becomes Road 213).
Turn left on to Carling Road. Take a photo of
the restored 1930 train trestle (after the train
tracks that cross the road and on your right).
… Continue
east to Pouce Coupe. Visit the town
museum located in the 1930 railway station
building on 49th avenue. A stop further down
the street at the Hart Hotel will show you
charming 1928 period style decor and hand
carved life-sized statues.
… Leave Pouce Coupe and travel north
on
Highway 2 for (2km/1.2m), turn right at
the Rolla/Spirit River Road sign, travel
(4.4km/2.8m), watch for the road sign with the
binoculars, turn left to the parking lot for
McQueen's Slough. Stroll the boardwalk and
trails and view over 100 species of bird life.
… Exit from McQueen's Slough by turning left
(
north), stop at the historic Rolla Pub and view
heritage photos of the area.
… Continue
north for (26km/16m) to Rylette
Road (Road 226), turn right for Sewell Game
Farm. Go (2.4km/1.4m) for an exciting end to
your day.
Excursion 2: Outdoor Art,
Antiquity & Architecture
Time: leave 10am - return by 6pm

… Drive
Highway 97 South to the community of
Chetwynd (100km/60m). Take a walking
tour through the community and view 60 +
original chainsaw carvings.
… Leave Chetwynd, drive
Highway 29 to Hudson's
Hope (22km/14m). Stop at the museum, a
former Hudson's Bay Company store that is
chock-full of phenomenal dinosaur bones,
skeletons, tracks, and fossils. You can also
explore the rich Fur Trade, Pioneer and First
Nations histories.
A short jaunt will take you to the W.A.C.
Bennett Dam and Williston Lake. Take an
underground tour of the dam, watch a video on
its construction and peruse the interpretive
centre. Have a meal at the Look-Out cafe or
pack a lunch and picnic at the site by the lake.
